Sony HDR-CX210 High Definition Handycam 5 – Great picture and easy to use.Fits in a pocket.

My daughter is into radio and television broadcast and loves the camera. It is great for what she wanted,, it was the model below what her school uses, but still has a lot of features and it very small and light.

Perfect for recording in-house training in our office.

I was shocked on how tiny this is but the quality of videos is incredible. Would have given 5 stars except for: the tiny connection ports; proprietary hdmi connector cable; video files can only be seen on the flash memory card using sony’s proprietary image software (included with camera); and the tiny touch screen controls. Having big finger tips make it awkward to use. Comes complete with all the connector cables you need, no additional purchases for cables required. Played the videos on my 50” plasma tv using the included hdmi cable, just super quality images. With good lighting, the 30x zoom still shows sharp detail. Added a 32 gig card to the camera because the hd video takes up a lot of space, approximately 100 megs per minute. Here are the specifications for the Sony HDR-CX210 High Definition Handycam 5:

  • Make sure this fits
    by entering your model number.
  • 5.3 megapixel still image
  • 25X Optical, 30X Extended zoom
  • 2.7 inch touch-screen Clear Photo LCD display
  • 1920×1080 Full HD Recording
  • Back-illuminated Exmor CMOS sensor for superb low-light video

I read some of the reviews about this camera and was somewhat apprehensive about purchasing it. After doing research, i decided that this was the camcorder that had the most bang for the buck. Videos transfer easily to your computer with the attached usb connection, and it also makes charging a snap. I would recommend getting the extended life battery as well a memory card (32 gb minimum). The stabilization is decent and doesn’t get to jumpy when you zoom. The picture quality is better than expected. Overall, we’re happier with it than we thought we’d be, no regrets on this purchase.

This camera was a gift and it was a good gift. She loved it and likes the ability to transfer to computer and other options.

I am using it now for more than a year and it’s very handy and small. We like jarring pictures if out daughter with this cam.

I should have known that i wasn’t getting a fine camera for the price i paid for this one. The battery is not so great, but is not a reason to complaint, video quality on the other hand is a reason to complaint. I have a 55 hd tv and the image, even when i recorded in the highest available quality, is all pixelated. I didn’t return for two reason, (1) it seems like my wife didn’t care much about the quality of the video, and the camera is just for my wife and (2), i don’t think i can get a much better camera in the price range this was. I gave it three stars because sony is not very accurate while decribing the hd capacity of the camera.

This is my first camcorder that i have purchased,i took it right out of the box and started using it. The touch screen menu is very easy to use. I also like the fact that i can take still images while recording and the zoom is unbelievable. Now i know this is not the top of the line camcorder but i am not a movie producer so i do not need something high end. If you want to record family activities, gatherings with friends or just sight seeing this cam is for you and i think it will amaze you in the quality of movies that you can take.

This camera does the job, but i wish it had a off/on switch. Also the video quality leaves some thing to be desired, but then again this could be how i’m operating it. On the good side, it’s lightweight and easy to transport. I’ve gotten a lot of good use from this camera.

The controls are easy to learn, it’s easy to upload videos to my computer & the video & audio quality is awesome. But this one time the video i shot turned out blurry. It was fine next time i used the camera though. So yes, i highly recommend this camera to others.

Easy to operate and transfer to other mediums. So small and handy to use for anyone with minimal skills.

Great price and fast shipment. Will write back after holidays for usage info.

Let me start off by saying this review is 100% my personal opinion and not fact. I am not a videographer or anything of the like, just an average consumer, looking for a nice video camera. – look & feelthe first thing that struck me about the camera is the weight (or lack of it). The camera is very light almost to the point of feeling kinda plasticky (like a tv remote. ) i suppose it could be a good thing for some but i prefer my electronics to have a bit of weight to them. I like the look of the camera it is very sleek and clean. The chrome accents really pop and look great. – video editing & conversionthe video editing is very easy and if you opt to store your data on an sd card it is a very quick process. The default folder structure is very easy to navigate to find the files and transfer them to your computer. The camera also has an attached usb cord in the handle so you don’t need and additional cords to retrieve your videos/pictures.

This sony is amazing, it makes the images so clear, and the zoom is fantastic. The only thing is that hd does use a lot of memory, so you will need to buy a memory card that fits into this camera which will give you many more hours of recording. Then to store these films as they were taken you have to get sony’s hd disc recorder, which i am still trying to get because it is pricey.

As the heading indicates, i am happy with the video. I am more than disappointed with the still photos. They are very grainy and pixelated.

This one does not have enough wide angle coverage, so, i you plan to shoot indoors (in close spaces) you’ll find yourself wanting and frustrated. The auto focus during nights is erratic, it takes a long time to focus, if you have a bright light in the foreground; since it does not have any manual focusing, some of the night shots turn out blurry. Software – the supplied software for converting the videos to blu-ray dvd is very slow (not just the writing part, this depends on your dvd writer), and its hard to combine/merge video thru the supplied software.

Tell me just how does sony pack it all in that small package. This little camcorder does all the neat things and it still fits in my coat pocket. I was expecting to spend a day studying the manual. But it only took a hour to have a good running idea how to use it. And the price on amazon was great.

Not a good night vision camera. Need to use ir lights but otherwise quality is great.

It works well in lower light, and also outside. I got it for christmas and used it to recoded family christmases this year. I must say that i like the functionality and flexability of this device. You can use a sd card which is handy cause i already had some and i believe it came with a small one. You can transfer content by the sd card or you can just plug it in via usb cable in the strap. Nice little things like that help a lot sometimes. The bad:the lcd screen isn’t like an iphone or any other device that has a good touch screen right now. It works about as good as some of the other devices that came out when the ipod touch came out. The ones than were touch, but you had to push harder or in a more specific spot.

Love it for the great price. Such a great picture for your memories. Eazy editing and long lasting battery even in extreme cold of a ski trip. All day in my pocket and the battery is still good.

My mother had one but it was huge and i decided to go ahead and buy my own and i am loving this size. I can put it in my purse and whip it out quickly to film. Definitely a must have if you like your camcorder nice and small.
