Sony DCR-SX41 Flash Camcorder w/60x Optical Zoom – A great device to capture memories

My first sony dcr-sx41 (red) was purchased at best buy back in 2009. It has been the most reliable, fit-in-your-pocket video camera i’ve ever purchased. It just now went ‘white screen’ on me yesterday 2/09/2018. After fidgeting with it for about an hour and not fixing it, i looked on amazon and found this one. I hope it works like my original. It is so easy and very quick to load on my cpu.

Very nice great shape works well.

This is a great camcorder, it is small but not too small just right. It is very light weight and very good optics, the best i have seen. Here are the specifications for the Sony DCR-SX41 Flash Camcorder w/60x Optical Zoom:

My mother enjoys this camera because it can fit in her purse really easy since it is so small. Having said that, operating the camera isn’t as easy for her as you’d hope. For the most part, the menus are designed well, but trying to access them on such a small touch screen is a challenge given that the icons are near the edge of the screen. I suppose for 2009, the year this camera was released, that the screen was acceptable. By today’s standards, this is barely acceptable for this price point. And smart phone are offering comparable features, although the zoom on this will likely beat most smart phones. My end point is this: modern smart phones offer enough features to make them the pocket video recorders. If you are going to carry a separate video recorder, then it should probably be much better than your smart phone.

I am in complete awe of this camcorder. It’s so small and takes amazing videos. I am able to capture our memories and easily transfer the video to our computer.

  • Excellent little camera at a great price

Not sure if i’m getting this submitted correctly since the ‘how do you rate it’ link dids’t seem to allow for input. . But i’m giving the sony dcr-sx40 the five stars it deserves – not just the four stars that ended in the preview of my review (can’t seem to change the darn thing). I’ve read a number of negative comments on other sites about picture quality being so-so, with visible purple fringing around images, blurring on zoom, and other comments referring to the camera as having ‘not very good quality’. Also have heard negative comments about the sony software requiring xp users to have service pack 3 installed. In my brief experience thus far with this camera, none of the above are true. We just got the camera last night and used it for the first time this morning. We immediately burned what we filmed onto dvd and played it back on our tv through the dvd player. The picture was absolutely wonderful. . And just in ordinary indoor lighting. The images were crisp with none of the dreaded ‘purple fringing’ in evidence.

I’m an executive speech coach and it’s important i have an easy to run camera with quick playback assessibility. This camera was packed professionally, it is like brand new and i love it. Thank you for being such a pro.

I really appreciate the seller’s making sure i understood how the camera works. The little note on the charger was a bonus. I only gave 4 stars because we have not recorded a game or a performance for our teens yet, but just testing the camera out the picture quality is excellent.

Bought this for an upcoming trek. Fits in the palm of the hand, easy to use and great quality. Can’t wait to use it in nepal.

This is the first new camcorder i’ve bought in seven years. I liked my last sony camcorder, but the tape drive did become fouled over the years and eventually caused the demise of the camera. I need simplicity with good results. I got the sx-41 a few days ago and i’m a little depressed about what i now have. First off, there’s no built in light on the camera. And i’ve already read complaints that it doesn’t do well in low light. My former sony camcorder did pretty good in lower light situations. I guess the technology went backward, although i suspect it’s all about being cheap. So, now i’ll have to find some makeshift rig from some company like sima in order to have any external light.

Digital camera is solution for the demands of home, has great image quality and is very easy to use. It is a good product, i’m happy with the purchase.

I got this camcorder to take on a two-week trip to europe. Overall, a great value and small enough to stick in a coat pocket or purse. Pros: the 8 gigs internal memory lasted me the whole trip, even though i had a spare 8 gig memory stick installed. Images are stable when walking around or on boats (example: strolling in st. Mark’s square or on a gondola ride in venice). Compact, easy to use, comes with a cable for video transfer to computer. Cons: night shots are hard to focus, even in night mode. I’m glad i bought this camera for my trip – very sturdy, light and compact. Would recommend this product.

Needed this for school to work with our older equipment. Arrived quickly and well packaged. Has been working perfectly for what we needed. Librarian and tech person are very pleased.
