Panasonic HDCTM15 16GB Full HD Camcorder – Good quality for the price

Mind you, i’m coming to this camcorder as a newbie. My previous camera was still 8mm, so i’m dazzled by the amazing video quality of the hd. I bought this camera to take with me on a ten-day trip to hawaii. I bought extra batteries and sd cards for additional run time. The 16gb hard drive is sufficient for all but the most ambitious of users. The battery life is fantastic as well. The on-camera video editing is so simple to use i’ve never had to bring out the manual. It’s small enough to fit in a coat pocket, and it fires up in only a couple seconds, so you’re not likely to miss the spontaneous thing you want to capture. I have absolutely no complaints about this camera, and i’d recommend it to anyone looking for a great camcorder for consumer use or light commercial.

I used this camera for the first time on vacation. It is easy to use and has a very good quality video. The battery life isn’t as long as i would like but so far that is my only complaint.

Bought this for my wife before the grandkids came up on vacation, she really likes it takes great video and pictures. Software is also above average easy to use to edit and save your video’s. After she had taken a few video’s we hooked up to our samsung led tv with hdmi cable ( it doesn’t come with the recorder ) video’s and pictures were great. Would buy again, very good price.

The last video camera i owned used a small film cassette and a large battery. The panasonic hdctm15 (why do they need so many letter/number designators?) is simply in a different ball park. I takes beautiful video, makes up for most of my cinematic shortcomings, is easy to transport and (mostly) easy to use. I got it for around $300, and i can’t believe i waited so long to upgrade. I love the feature that stabilizes the video for you and also the one that permits you to use the camera as a ‘still shot’ camera. The still shots are great quality, just like the video. If you are not familiar with these types of cameras, you will need to be prepared to spend awhile with the excellent instruction book. All the cables are included to play back the video or still shots on your digital tv or your computer, or to transfer the data to a dvd. Your computer will need a dvd burner (not just a player), or else you will need a separate dvd recorder to transfer the video to a dvd.

Overall, i think that this camera is a good value. The camera records in hd and pictures look good on my hd tv, so it is a step up from an sd camcorder. The 16gb of memory in the camera allows you to record about 2 hours of hd video, you also have the option of recording to sdhc cards, i have been using microcenter brand 16gb cards and have not had any problems. The image stabilization on this camera works really well, i have stopped using a tripod. The camera is lightweight and easy to carry, if you have large pockets you can even tuck it into a pocket and go. I have used the hdctm-15 to record basketball games. For the most part the picture is good, in poorly lit gyms the color can appear to look very washed out and you can begin to see some graininess in the picture. Pros: image stabilization is great, 16x optical zoom, full hd recording, touch screen easy to usecons: low light image quality. Avchd format takes a lot of computer power to view and edit.

I wanted our first camcorder and the low priced 1080i model here seemed like it would fill the bill. Features, ease of use, picture quality all exceeded expectations.

  • A Good and Easy to Use HD Camcorder
  • As good as any HD cam twice the price
  • Very Impressed!

This is a good product but battery last very short and very low light it is grainy but with proper lighting at night its a nice camcorder.

Bought this to use as a higher quality option to my hd flip video for a canoe trip to the canadian boundary waters. Not a bad camera, once i figured out how to use pinnacle studio 14battery life is okay – lasted 5 days with light use, about 1 hour of video. Be careful with your video editing software – it will render it with interlacing lines which can look horrible if you are not careful.

I bought this camcorder for a family trip to london and paris in june, 2010. This is my first camcorder, so i dont have anything to compare, but the ease of use and playback is excellent. Battery life is good, and the light weight but quality construction of the body of the camera appear to be very good. The only negative is that it is somewhat complicated in downloading to my apple lap top. Overall, this is a great purchase.

I use this camcorder taking vacation videos and for this purpose it does a great job. Pros: easy to download video files for storage onto hard drives or editing. Great hd video in daylight conditions. Small and light enough to take anywhere. Image stabilization reduces shake when using zoom. Optical image stabilization at this price is a great selling point. Auto-focus works great even during fast zooms. Cons: does not handle low light situations very well (grainy video). Supplied battery does not last long enough between charges. I use powerdirector 8 to edit my videos and put them onto youtube or burn them onto dvd.

My wife and i were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the movies produced by this little camera. A multitude of functions actually work to make creating quality clips much easier. The sound quality is very good even including the ability to indicate how close to the camera the primary sound source should be. The anti-jiggle control works. It turns what would be a blurry shake into what appears to be a camera wobble. Having 16gb built-in memory is a great feature. Especially for those times when you grab the camera and run but overlooks the fact that you left the memory card in the computer the last time you offloaded movies/pictures. A pro is the very small size and light weight of the camera. A con is also the light weight and small size because it can be a little difficult for a larger hand to get the camera in the palm where it best fits to operate all the controls. It would be nice for the battery to have a larger capacity.

The camera is great,i had a sdr s7 wanted higher quality. 549,00 was the orig price for this camera. Thanks ps the camera is fanrastic for that price. Flash built in 16 gb media slot for another card. Buy an extra battery and a charger and you are ready for vacation.

I really like this camcorder and rarely like or dislike something enough to write a review. Real easy to use, edit video, etc. The only reason it did not get 5 star is the life of the battery is a little shorter than i expected. Overall, a very good product and experience for the money.

For an entry level hi def vid cam this is one incredible machine. Light, portable and excellent features. Constantly get comments from friends who watch my videos on how crisp and clear they are-just like they were there too.

The built in light and very easy to work, and making dvd`s is also very easy.

I had been looking for a decent quality hd video camera for a while, but the prices just weren’t coming down. Finally i settled on this model and i am happy i did. I wanted the option to have built in memory and a memory card. For some reason, i just don’t trust memory on a camera. I want to have a card available too. The only real problem i have had with this camera is the crappy worthless ‘video editing’ equipment included with the camera. Do yourself a favor and buy a decent editing program. The one they have is slow and very worthless. Otherwise, i like the filming options on the camera and it filmed great footage of our trip to disney last year in all lighting situations. For the price, you won’t find a better camera.

This has been a great camcorder, it has tons of features and is very lightweight. Not only takes great video but also great still photos while shooting video.

We bought this camera for a trip to japan this summer. The major selling points were the low price and the optical image stabilization (ois). We have had several different models low price hd cameras (a**tek and fl*p), and the lack of image stabilization was just unacceptable, and made much worse because of the high definition. I tried correcting for it using the best video editing software i could find, but it was frustrating and ultimately unacceptable. The panasonic hdctm15 is amazing-it is small, fits in my pants pocket. Almost too small for my very large hand, but useable. -the shape fits in the hand much better than the flat vertical models and is easier to use. -video quality is excellent. Ois works extremely well: while traveling through japan on the shinkansen at about 300mph, i spotted a ‘daimonji’, a very large symbol cut into the side of a mountain. I zoomed to maximum to get a good shot.

After seeing an impressive vacation video shot with this camcorder, i checked amazon and had to buy it at the $212 price that day. Easy to use with many adjustments, but the intelligent auto mode worked perfectly for me. Video of our local 4th of july parade when shown on a 65′ hdtv was sharp and clear with good sound quality. I thought the 1080i video might be poorer than 1080p, but i cannot see any difference on my 1080p hdtv. 1 megapixel still photos i took looked good, but i primarily wanted a decent camcorder. This little camcorder has exceeded all my expectations.

Excellent hd camorder for the price. Just got mines for my boys football games and am happy with the overall video and functions. I don’t know how negative some reviews are. If you need a hd camcorder and don’t wanna spend too much than this is the one for you. Pro – everything panasonic hdctm15 offers(high definition, 1080p) accept 1. Cons – need an extra battery for back-up.

Purchased this hd camcorder to primarily record my sons athletic events. This camera is excellent when it comes to is compact size as well as its video recording quality. There is only one recommendation i would make to anyone purchasing for recording events longer than 1 hour. Purchase an additional battery immediately. The battery life of the stock battery is less than one hour if you are filming continuously. Otherwise, for value you cannot beat the numerous features and quality of this panasonic product.

I am having trouble getting my clips to import. It says there are no pictures/video available, but i know there is.

This camcorder is amazing its packed full of features and very easy to use the images it captures are very good quality i highly recommend this camcorder.

The camera lives up to its early expectations of quality and ease of use. Read the manual and you can be up and shooting good videos in no time. Operates easily, easy to configure one of the multiple cables supplied to playback on almost any tv. Battery life appears fine, although limited testing of the limits of battery life. Extra batteries available range in size from the included vw-vbg070 up to the vw-vbg130 & vw-vbg260. The vw-vbg260 is the biggest, but the battery when installed does not allow you to shut the lcd screen completely due to its size being in the way. Not sure the best way to verify that a brand of sd card will work with the unit. I tried two brands of 16gb cards and one worked and the other did not even though they were both class 4 speed. People with bigger hands like i might have to get used to holding it such that you can operate the zoom for one handed use. The touchscreen is handy instead of having to always use many buttons to get to a function.

A great camera for the $300 price rangethe camera and software are easy to use, the focus is great and the image stabilization helps reduce shaking (it’s a small light-weight camera). I also love that it comes with built in memory (it holds a lot and i haven’t needed an additional sd card, yet). Low light scenes don’t do great and don’t expect great quality from the still shots and you won’t be disappointed. Also recommend buying an extra battery so you’re always ready to go. I’m very happy with this camera.

$212, free shipping, no tax, for a panasonic hd camcorder?. Panasonic’s legendary reliability, quality and performance is here in spades. Video quality is amazing, the ‘corder is so tiny it fits into a pocket, complete editing ability. It would be nice to have a wider wide angle lens, the microphone could be better, no remote control, some features (like fade) cancel every time you turn it off, but for this money, it’s unbeatable.

There is nothing i don’t like about this camcorder. I am a gadget person, have been for 2 decades, and i’m an it guy by trade. This camera has absolutely not disappointed me. I was able to pick it up for a really great price ($212) but even for $100 more it would have been a great deal. The video quality is great (even though it’s 1080i and not 1080p). The pictures that it takes turn out pretty good too, but don’t expect that feature to blow you away. It’s just a nice added bonus. It is pretty fantastic though that you can snap away with still shots during the video recording. My wife took over a dozen pictures of our daughter playing with her cousins while she was shooting video.

-outdoor video in hd is beautiful. -indoor or low light, a bit grainy like most others. The led light is nice and bright though. -battery life one to one and a half hours. Can also be plugged into the wall. The battery is right under your palm and gets uncomfortably hot after a while. Sticker on the bottom tells you that’s normal. -16x optical zoom is very nice.
